In the spring of 2005, Bungie Studios asked FilmOasis to do a follow up feature to their Halo 2 Limited Collector's Edition DVD. The studio was in production of 9 new multiplayer maps for release as an expansion pack for Halo 2. FilmOasis produced a twenty minute documentary about the five teams assembled to build these new maps.? It is a humorous look at their world and the ones they build with player insight, tips and commentary.? The video called "Killtacular" is available only on the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack Xbox disc in the Special Features section.
Prior to the Xbox disc release Bungie and the Xbox.com team commissioned a set of high-quality promo videos from FilmOasis of the upcoming Maptacular Maps.
The videos combine flythroughs of the maps themselves (something nobody outside Bungie has the capability of doing) with beautifully timed gameplay footage set to Marty O'Donnell's fantastic Halo 2 music. These videos have been released, piece by piece, by major gaming sites - but the focus has been on WMP9 versions. On top of that, the sites releasing the vids have been given permission to watermark the videos, or to place splash screens before them - you're forced to look at someone's logo in order to enjoy them.
FilmOasis and the Xbox.com marketing arm helped bungie.org release these vids in high-res, watermark-free format - enjoy them for what they are, a celebration of the superb mapmaking skills of the Bungie team!
